The Boys Cross Country team enjoyed a successful season. The team has risen to a high standard and showed their determination and heart throughout the season. The team placed 2nd at the Red Dragon Invitational and 5th at the East Aurora Invitational. League wins were over Timon, Canisius, St. Mary’s, Gow and O’Hara/Park. A heroic loss to St. Joe’s by only 5 points during the regular season set the stage for a hotly contested battle for the All-Catholic championship in early November. Every Nichols runner dug deep to contribute to unprecedented victories over Canisius and St. Joe’s in the final race of the season, and an epic second place finish in the championship race. This second-place finish stands as a testament to their determination and heart. Ryan Janese finished 2nd at the All-Catholic meet, was named to the All-Catholic team and represented Nichols at the Federation Meet in mid-November. Janese was the Vikings top runner in every league and invitational meet this season. Ryan Janese ’26 was the Most Valuable Player. Sayward McPherson ’24 and Michael Ricotta ’24 received the Coaches Awards. Reino Becker ’26 was the Most Improved Runner. The team thanks the three seniors for their dedication to the program!
