Campus Life

Community Engagement

Our mission is to train “minds, bodies and hearts for the work of life, and to carry into all we do the highest ideals of character and service.” The School’s Community Outreach Program exposes our students to the issues and problems that face many communities, especially in Buffalo and Western New York. This exposure emboldens the heart and we hope that each student’s compassionate efforts produce a sense of empowerment. By participating in the service, our students realize that they can change the world for the better.

Upper School Program

In the Upper School, students approach service in depth by researching, volunteering and work together on creating projects and presentations surrounding various issues: Freshmen focus on the environment; sophomores aid poverty; juniors center on refugee issues; and seniors treat education and literacy problems in society.

It inspires me to see my classmates doing all of these great things! It makes you think that you can do a lot more for your community and you can always give more.

Middle School Program

The main goal of the Middle School's community service initiative is to increase our students' awareness of the needs of others. Our primary focus is to assist organizations that serve the Western New York region. While several of our targeted fundraising efforts have been supported by Nichols for many years, other fundraisers are identified by students and faculty on a year-to-year basis depending on immediate needs.
